Re-Elect

Evan Hope

Delhi Township Clerk

Michigan's Township Clerk of the Year, 2007

About Evan Hope

Evan Hope was born and raised in Delhi Township (Holt).  He graduated from Holt High School and attended Lansing Community College.

Before serving as Township Clerk, he served as Township Trustee from 1996-1998.  While a Township Trustee he served as Ingham County Deputy Drain Commissioner.

Evan served in other capacities in the Ingham County Drain Office including assessing assistant and Public Outreach Coordinator for the Tollgate Wetland Project.  Prior to public service, Evan worked for the family painting business as well as a local Delhi Township business, LumberTown of Holt.

Evan is the youngest of 8 children, all who grew up in Delhi Township.  Evan's father passed away when he was 8 years old.  His mother Marlene, worked for Holt Public Schools enabling her to support the family.

Evan was raised on the philosophy of working toward the betterment of community.  His family has been very involved in public service.

His father owned his own painting business and was elected to the Holt School Board which he served for 17 years.  The "Bernard L. Hope Middle School" in Holt is named in his honor.

Evan's mother was always involved in community organizations and his father was a charter member of the Holt Lions Club, which Evan is a member today.

Evan's uncle, Ken Hope, served as a Delhi Township Trustee, an Ingham County Commissioner and on the Ingham County Road Commission.  Ken was a local business owner and long time resident of Delhi Township. The "Kenneth A. Hope Soccer Complex" on Aurelius Road is named in his honor.

Evan Hope was first elected to the Township Board as a Trustee in 1996.  Although all records are not available, it appears that Evan was the youngest person ever elected Delhi Township Trustee, at age 24.

In 1998, Virginia Farr, who served as Township Clerk for 20 years decided to retire. Working with Evan on the Township Board for nearly two years, she recommended that the Board appoint Evan to fill her vacancy.  This appointment made Evan Hope the youngest person to serve as Delhi Township Clerk, at age 26.

Evan completed and intensive 3 year institute at Michigan State University, which along with his experience and accomplishments earn him Certified Municipal Clerk status (CMC). Evan is the first Certified Municipal Clerk for Delhi Charter Township.

Evan and his wife Kara are homeowners and are raising their young niece and nephew who both attend Holt Public Schools.

Evan Hope looks forward to serving you as your Clerk.  The only thing he ever promises, is to work hard and listen to his constituents.  With your support, he will continue to do the first-rate job you expect from your Clerk.
